The starting point

How can research teams access information that has accumulated across different systems?

A research organization had accumulated information across an established application landscape. The project brought that information into a central, web-accessible research data warehouse on Oracle Cloud. It became the foundation for subsequent data-integration and application work.

Bringing research information together is only part of making it useful. Teams also need ways to access it, applications that reflect their work and the skills to continue developing the environment. The platform engagement became a foundation for subsequent integrations, research workflows and knowledge transfer.

Our contribution

PROVADIT’s contribution

PROVADIT contributed to the data platform and the applications around it. The scope included additional data sources, research workflows, application transition, maintenance and training in cloud and data engineering.

  1. Create a shared foundation

Bring research data together in the Oracle Cloud environment and support web-based access.

  2. Connect applications and data

Extend the platform with data integrations and Oracle APEX applications for research tasks. For a related example, explore application for research sample workflows.

  3. Support continued development

Provide transition support, maintenance and training in Oracle Cloud, APEX, PL/SQL and data modeling.

Inside the work

A platform becomes useful through its applications and people.

The case brings together the initial research data warehouse and related follow-on engagements. These layers explain the scope without treating each extension as an independent platform build.

  1. Shared information

A central, web-accessible data warehouse on Oracle Cloud brings research information into a shared foundation.

  2. Research applications

Data integrations and Oracle APEX applications connect that foundation with specialist research tasks.

  3. Continued development

Maintenance, transition support and training support the client team’s work with its data and applications.

Deliverables

The work delivered. The decisions it supports.

The platform delivered in 2022 was followed by additional data and application work through 2024. The case illustrates continuity between a data foundation and its use in the business, with transition and knowledge transfer as part of the engagement history.

  • A central research data warehouse delivered in 2022.
  • Follow-on data integrations and application work using that foundation.
  • Maintenance, transition support and training in subsequent engagements.

Engagement context

This case covers the research data platform and related integration, application and enablement work.

What this illustrates

A data platform gains practical meaning through the applications, responsibilities and skills around it. Platform design and knowledge transfer belong in the same conversation.
